TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Department of Chemistry, University of California-San Diego letterhead, May 6, 1969. Letter to Howard Sanders of Chemical & Engineering News, in part: "There is a big literature on sickle cell anemia, and I shall not go to the trouble of quoting it in relation to the second paragraph of your letter. I do not understand the objection of the reviewer quoted in the next to the last paragraph of your letter. The two statements are both correct: errors in two of the 574 amino acids, or in one of the 287 in each half-molecule. Perhaps the reviewer did not notice that 574 is two times 287." In fine condition.
