Fantastic vintage circa 1930s glossy 8 x 10 photo of Johnson as manager of the Cleveland Indians, shown at full length with a dog by his side, nicely signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "Best Wishes, C. B. Martin, Walter Johnson.” Reverse bears a Herbert Rebman photographer's credit stamp. In fine condition, with a short tear to the bottom border, and a light paperclip impression to the lower right edge. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. After his legendary career as a pitcher for the Washington Senators, Johnson took the helm of his old club as manager from 1929-1932. In 1933, he became manager of the Cleveland Indians, remaining in the post for two seasons before entering retirement. A superb, crystal-clear portrait of Johnson as he neared the end of his baseball career.
