Grant appoints the "Acting Secretary of the Treasury"

Uncommon manuscript DS as president, one page, 7.5 x 10, November 4, 1870. President Grant appoints Jonathan F. Hartley as "Acting Secretary of the Treasury, during the temporary absence of Geo. S. Boutwell, Secretary." Signed at the conclusion by Grant. In very good to fine condition, with creasing, splitting along the horizontal folds, and a small tear beneath (and not affecting) Grant's signature.
