Governor of Connecticut who was the only colonial governor to side with the Americans during the Revolutionary War (1710-1785). Revolutionary War-dated partly-printed DS, signed “Jon;th Trumbull,” one page, 11.5 x 7, January 24, 1783. As governor of Connecticut, Trumbull appoints Joseph Alden as "Captain of the 9th Company or Trainband in the 22d Regiment in this State." Signed at the conclusion by Governor Trumbull and countersigned by George Wyllys as secretary. The white paper seal affixed to the left side remains partially intact. Matted and framed to an overall size of 18.25 x 14. In very good to fine condition, with creasing, and what appears to be a tear within the body of the document.
