Patriot leader (1729-1824) in Philadelphia during the American Revolution and the secretary of the Continental Congress (1774-1789) throughout its existence; Thomson was the only person to sign the Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration alongside John Hancock. Scarce bank check, 7.5 x 3, entirely filled out and signed by Thomson, payable to Abner Barret for $20, January 2, 1822. In very good, fragile condition, with several vertical folds, paperclip impression to top edge, two cancellation cuts to body, and a partial central vertical separation. A boldly penned example from the then 92-year-old Thomson.
