Description

TLS signed “D. E.,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 17, 1961. Letter to his personal physician, Major General Howard McCrum Snyder, in full: "I tried to call you this morning but found that you were up in New York. The following things were on my mind: (a). The next time I am due for the regular blood tests, do you think I should try to have my annual physical examination—or should that come later? (b). Dr. Johnson tells me that he has only the sketchiest kind of record on my medical history. For instance, he had heard nothing about the one or two ileitis attacks I have had since my operation and he is not familiar with your methods to relieve such a situation. (c). He has no medical history on Mamie. (d). Do you think that the next time you come to Gettysburg to check on my medicines, etc. (which I think you said you planned to do shortly), you should bring along summaries of both medical histories? Have a good time, and give Howard my best." In fine condition, with staple holes to all four corners.
