Description

Straight from his Graceland closet—Elvis's handsome leather coat

Elvis Presley's personally-owned light brown leather jacket from the 1970s, given to his bodyguard Dave Hebler. Of Elvis's typical style, the handsome jacket is a size 42 and features care tags sewn into the side lining, and the manufacturer's tag, "Genuine Leather by Grais, Made in the USA," at the back collar. The jacket has a three-button front closure and two side pockets. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated, and a letter of provenance from Dave Hebler, who worked as Presley's bodyguard from 1972 to 1976. Hebler's letter reads, in part: "One day Elvis invited me upstairs to his bedroom at Graceland and offered me all of his jumpsuits. He complained that they no longer fit him and that he wanted them out of his closet. I told him I had no use for his jumpsuits nor did I have the ability to store them at my apartment. I then moved a majority of the jumpsuits to the shed at the back of Graceland. I did receive several jackets including this brown leather jacket with 3 buttons on the front of the coat. Elvis had several of these in various colors in his dressing room closet upstairs." Elvis was famously generous, and when the mood struck him to clean out his closet his closest associates—in this case, his bodyguard—were oftentimes the beneficiaries.
