Pioneer aviator, engineer, and inventor (1885-1956) who conceived and built numerous vehicles, both three and four-wheeled, consisting mostly of prototypes; his more famous vehicles include the three-wheeled Martin Scootmobile and a Midget Car called the Martin Dart. TLS signed “Jas. V. Martin,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Dart letterhead, March 19, 1928. Letter to Henry Woodhouse, in full: "In order to protect you in respect to commission and services in interesting some of your acquaintances in my Dart car proposition, papers and photos of which I deliver herewith, I undertake as follows:—That I shall not make any contract with anyone to whom you introduce the proposition, for at least a year after such introduction, without first securing you[r] approval in writing to the entire agreement. Hoping this will care for your interests until the terms of an agreement are sufficiently tangible for us to sign a more definite contract." In very good to fine condition, with two edge tears and some light soiling.
