Barrette as "Brigadier General in the National Army, in the service of the United States.” Signed at the conclusion by President Wilson, and countersigned by Secretary of War Newton D. Baker and Adjutant General Henry P. McCain. In very good to fine condition, with scattered creasing. The recipient of this appointment, John Davenport Barrette, served in France during World War I, where he commanded the Artillery School in Saumur.
