Description

Fighter pilot (1920-1945) known as the highest-scoring air ace of the United States, having shot down at least 40 Japanese aircraft during World War II; he was killed in a crash while working as a Lockheed test pilot. Ink signature, "Major Richard I. Bong,” on a white 6.5 x 3.75 mailing envelope, postmarked January 27, 1945. In fine condition.
