Description

American songwriter and producer (1891-1938) who, along with collaborator Herb Magidson, received the first Academy Award for Best Original Song, for 'The Continental' in 1934's The Gay Divorcee. Partly-printed DS, one page, 8.25 x 13.5, January 1934. Assignment of Canadian Copyright in which Con Conrad, Ben Oakland, and Bennee Russell assign the rights for "Don't Never Do That" to the T. B. Harms Co. Signed twice at the conclusion by Con Conrad and Bennee Russell, and once by Ben Oakland. In fine condition, with a large ink blot near one of Russell's signatures.
