Desirable DS in Japanese, one page, 23.25 x 17.75, April 1, 1906. Untranslated document in which Emperor Meiji confers the Third Class, Order of the Rising Sun upon a distinguished person. Includes the award medal with neck ribbon and lapel pin in its original black lacquer case, as well as the document's wooden box with green ribbon. In fine condition, with some scattered wrinkling and creasing, and a bit of staining along the top edge. Established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji, the Order of the Rising Sun is given to honor those who have made significant achievements in international relations, the promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field, development in welfare, or the preservation of the environment.
