Description

American tobacco, insurance, and transportation magnate (1851-1928) whose fortune began in public transit with New York streetcars; his most profitable endeavors were in tobacco, merging his Union Tobacco Company into the American Tobacco Company in the 1890s. Partly-printed DS, signed “Thomas F. Ryan,” one page, 11.5 x 15.5, April 1, 1892. Mortgage bond certificate for the Kentucky Mineral and Timber Company in the amount of $1,000, signed at the conclusion by Ryan as the company's secretary. The crisp uncanceled bond retains 30 warrant coupons on the adjoining sheet. In fine condition.
