Description

"Those that say I'm using this for a stepping stone are looking for something to say"

ALS signed “Bill,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Office of the Attorney General, Little Rock letterhead, June 22, 1977. Letter to Lee Jones, in full: "Thanks for your note. It really made me feel good. First, I have to go to Piggott early on the 4th to open their festivities. I'll fly to Searcy as soon as possible and I think I can make it by noon—Barbara will let you know for sure. Will that be soon enough? Second, thanks for the Girls State report. Those that say I'm using this for a stepping stone are looking for something to say. I have raised no money, made no plans, even made no decision. I want to keep being as outspoken with people as I can be—Thanks for tip on Bill Martin." In fine condition, with a small crease to the upper left corner. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Clinton's own hand.
