Description

Handsome color 5.75 x 4.5 print of a Robert Cruikshank engraving entitled “President's Levee, or all Creation going to the White House,” which shows a large crowd in front of the White House during Andrew Jackson's first inaugural reception in 1829, signed and inscribed on the matting in fountain pen, “To Christine Stugard, with our affectionate best wishes, Lady Bird Johnson, Christmas 1965” and “Lyndon B. Johnson.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 11. In fine condition, with light toning to the perimeter of the mat. Stugard served as LBJ’s legislative assistant in the Senate and as Mrs. Johnson’s social correspondence secretary in the White House.
