Sought-after original brad-bound first draft of the screenplay for Purple Rain, 8.5 x 11, 100 pages, with the title page reading: "Purple Rain, Screenplay by Albert Magnoli, Formerly Dreams by William Blinn, First Draft, 29 August 1983." The script begins with Prince's famous voiceover from the beginning of 'Let's Go Crazy': "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life. Electric word life, it means forever and that's a mighty long time. But I'm here to tell you that there's something else—the afterworld." This first draft of the script casts Vanity, rather than Apollonia, as Prince's love interest in the classic film. In fine condition, with some mild wear to cover. From the collection of an early Prince insider.
