In part: “Whereas…John Mullen was convicted of Larceny, and sentenced to be imprisoned in the common jail for a period of six months, and to pay a fine of one dollar: and whereas, it has been made satisfactorily to appear to me, that the prisoner is a fit subject for the exercise of the Executive clemency…I, Franklin Pierce, President of the United States of America…do hereby grant unto him the said John Mullen a full and unconditional pardon.” Prominently signed at the conclusion by Pierce, and countersigned by Secretary of State William L. Marcy. The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains fully intact and extremely crisp. In very good to fine condition, with very unobtrusive repairs to splitting along intersecting folds.
