Excessively rare advance pressing of Camille, Prince's unreleased 1986 album, from the collection of a former senior level executive in the music business who acquired it from Warner Bros. Records (Paisley Park's distributor) in 1986. The mint-condition, unplayed disc has Paisley Park labels with track listings of "Rebirth of the Flesh," "Housequake," "Strange Relationship," and "Feel U Up" on side one, and "Shockadelica," "Good Love," "If I Was Your Girlfriend," and "Rockhard in a Funky Place" one side two. Etched into the 'dead wax' matrix area are the numbers, "1-25543-A-SH1, B-26287-SH1, 15191" on side one, and "1-25543-B-SH1, B-26288-SH1, 15191-X" on side two. Includes the original unmarked paper and cardboard sleeves. In very fine condition.
This advance pressing shows just how close to release Camille came before Prince pulled the project—the label artwork had been finalized and advance pressings has been distributed to some in-house executives. It remains unclear exactly how many copies of this Camille pressing exist, but our consignor speculates that it may be as few as 25. The Camille advance pressing was essentially unknown to the Prince community until one surfaced in a lot from the Prince collection of Karen Krattinger, which we sold in September 2016. A tremendously highly sought-after album of the utmost significance.
