Samuel Chase

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland (1741–1811) and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1796 until his death. Full free frank, measuring 10.75 x 8.5 unfolded with a center panel of 5.5 x 3.75, stamped "Balt Sep 25" and "Free," and addressed in the hand of Chase, "The Honorable, James McHenry, Secretary of War, Philadelphia," with the recipient adding docketing notations to the top panel, "26 Sept 1796, Saml Chase." In very good to fine condition, with light overall soiling, and small archival tape reinforcements on the reverse. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
