Description

Hotel Rwanda

Screen-used military uniform costume worn by South African actor Fana Mokoena as General Bizimungu in the Oscar-nominated 2004 film Hotel Rwanda. The impressive costume consists of several expertly tailored and designed pieces, including: an olive Armed Forces jacket with brass buttons by Gilo Riatti, size 44, featuring four front pockets, a hidden interior pocket, blue rank boards with sword and star pins on lapels, and a series of four medals and ribbons affixed to left chest; a matching pair of olive pleated slacks by Gilo Riatti, size 41, with side and back pockets; a military-style khaki dress shirt by Jefferson Collection, size 46/XL, with two chest pockets; an olive military officer peaked cap by S. Grossberg of Pretoria, with black patent bill bearing gold oak leaf embellishments, a gold band, and running leaf design; an olive drab tie by Moygashel; two extra blue rank boards, one bearing two star pins; and an extra set of five star pins. In overall fine, screen-used condition, with a few stains to khaki shirt. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Hollywood P.R.I.M.E., as well an image of Mokoena wearing the uniform during production. Known for his roles in films like World War Z and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Mokoena portrayed one of the film's chief antagonists in Augustin Bizimungu, a former general in the Rwandan Armed Forces who trained the soldiers and militiamen responsible for carrying out the Rwandan Genocide. Hotel Rwanda is an historical drama based on the Rwandan Genocide of spring 1994, and focuses on the efforts of hotelier Paul Rusesabagina and his wife Tatiana as they attempt to save the lives of more than a thousand refugees by granting them shelter in the besieged Hotel des Mille Collines.
