Ideal portrait of Lieutenant General Grant

Desirable 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Grant in his military uniform, signed in ink, “U. S. Grant, Lt. Gen. U. S. A.” In fine condition, with a small, light scuff above Grant’s left shoulder. Grant was promoted to lieutenant general by President Lincoln in March 1864 before being elevated to general in August 1866, dating this signature to that period. An ideal example of a Grant carte-de-visite from the Civil War period. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
