Terrific screen-used stop-motion face for the Beldam or ‘Other Mother’ from the 2009 film Coraline. Made of resin material and expertly hand-painted, this gorgeously menacing face measures approximately 1.5 x 2.25 x 1.5, and features a pointed nose, vivid ‘crack’ design-work, and individual inset teeth. Reverse bears empty magnet holes and blue ink notations, “Hint of white.” In fine condition. This sinister-looking face of the Beldam character was used on various puppets throughout filming; magnets on the backside allowed animators to quickly switch out faces depending on the scene. This particular face features upper and lower halves fused into a single piece, signifying that this expression was used several times during production. A fantastic example of a custom-made stop-motion visage.
