Rare mimeographed and hand-stapled Futuria Fantasia 'magazine,' Winter 1940, 8.5 x 11, 19 pages, signed and inscribed on the front cover in black ballpoint, "David!-Good wishes-Ray Bradbury 2/5/88." In very good condition, with front cover partially detached and uniformly toned, mild toning to remaining pages, light horizontal folds, a couple creases, and paper loss to lower right corner of cover.
Shortly after graduating high school in 1938, Bradbury joined the now legendary Clifton's Cafeteria-hosted LA Science Fantasy Society, with fellow sci-fi enthusiasts Forrest Ackerman and Robert Heinlein. With Ackerman's help, Bradbury put together Futuria Fantasia, publishing his own writing along with stories from Heinlein and illustrations from Hannes Bok. After releasing only four issues in editions of 100 copies each, the team disbanded, with Bradbury focusing on writing for various pulp magazines. Until the 2007 facsimile reproduction was released, Futuria Fantasia was near impossible to find in any form. This original 1940 edition is a true treasure from the golden years of Science Fiction-an outstanding piece from the nascent stages of Bradbury's career.
