Two items: a TLS, two pages, 5.25 x 8, personal letterhead, June 9, 1948, in part: “I am so glad you enjoyed the film ‘The Smugglers’…For yourself I am enclosing two large photographs, one a character still…and the other a recent portrait still…Incidentally, as you may perhaps know, the title of ‘The Smugglers’ when it was shown over here was ‘The Man Within’ which is the title of the novel by Graham Greene from which the film was adapted”; and a glossy 7.75 x 9.75 Gainsborough Pictures publicity photo of Attenborough, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “All best wishes ‘Francis,’ from one to another, Richard Attenborough, 1948.” Reverse of photo bears a Sydney Box Production stamp for ‘The Man Within.’ In overall fine condition.
