Handsomely engraved certificate for three shares of capital stock in the American Express Company issued to William V. Van Rensselaer of Seneca Falls. Signed at the conclusion by Wells as president and Fargo as secretary. In very good to fine condition, with staining and small tears to top edge. Accompanied by an 1868 receipt signed by Van Rensselaer exchanging his three shares in The American Express Company for fifteen shares of the American Merchants Union Express Company.
