Description

Daniel E. Sickles

Controversial American politician and military officer (1819–1914) who lost his leg in a famous incident at the Battle of Gettysburg. ALS, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, October 10, 1893. I read the enclosed letter…with surprise & pain—I cannot understand Stanton’s neglect of his studies—nor can I comprehend what he does with his time. I read between the lines of the enclosed letter that his teachers are disappointed & displeased with his conduct and would rather have him taken away from the Academy. I wish you would have a frank talk with them & advise me what to do.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
