Description

Coppola takes the Apocalypse Now director’s chair

DS, twenty pages in total, 8.5 x 11, March 1, 1976. Employee loan-out agreement between Coppola Cinema Seven and The Coppola Company, in which the latter “agrees to furnish…the services of Artist [Coppola] as director and individual producer of that theatrical motion picture tentatively entitled Apocalypse Now” for a period of nineteen weeks. The entirety of the document includes the initial loan-out agreement, a list of the standard terms of agreement, and an acknowledgment portion. Signed on the final page in black ballpoint by Coppola. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. As a follow-up to his Oscar-winning The Godfather: Part II, the ambitious Coppola sought to adapt Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness through the lens of the Vietnam War. Plagued by a myriad of setbacks, the film was ultimately released in mid-1979, receiving rave reviews and a wealth of award nominations; the film earned Coppola three Oscars nominations for Best Picture, Director, and Writing. An incredible document related to Coppola’s dark masterpiece.
