Description

Some Like It Hot finds its Joe in Curtis

Exceptional DS, twenty onionskin pages, 8.5 x 11, March 7, 1958. Agreement between Curtis and MCA Artists in which the former agrees “to portray the role of Joe in our photoplay tentatively entitled ‘Some Like It Hot’” for a proposed “rate of Ten Thousand Dollars…per week.” Signed at the conclusion of the last page in blue ink, “Tony Curtis,” and initialed five times throughout the document, “TC.” Curtis has likewise initialed his name four more times on attached riders detailing gross receipts and royalties. In fine condition. Despite never being granted a certificate of approval from the MPPA, Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot became a monster hit in 1959, due in large part due to the appeal of its all-star cast of Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe. An incredible document related to the formation of a true American classic. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
