Official white-matte RIAA platinum sales award presented “to Marvin Pierce to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the Mercury Records single record ‘Fire.’” Framed with its disc and plate to an overall size of 13.25 x 17.25. Award retains its original backing with a New York Frame & Picture label. In fine condition. Pierce was a trombonist for the Ohio Players. Along with ‘Love Rollercoaster,’ the single ‘Fire’ was the band’s biggest hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1975.
