Legal notes in pencil, six pages, 8.5 x 11, no date but circa 1965. All notes are in another hand with the exception of two lines on the fourth page, “My council is not, The court was treating evidence,” which are written by Bruce and subsequently struck through. The notes explain Bruce’s complaints about his lawyers and the legal proceedings that took place during his obscenity trial in 1964. Following several disagreements Bruce attempted to fire his attorneys and defend himself at the last minute, but his plan did not work out and he was convicted. In fine condition. Offering insight into the important case and Bruce’s personal position, these notes are both significant and absolutely fascinating.
