David Porter

American naval officer (1780–1843) who led the first capture of a British vessel during the War of 1812 and who later served as commander-in-chief of the Mexican Navy. Autograph check, 8 x 2.25, filled out and signed by Porter, “D. Porter,” payable to the Office of Discount and Deposit for $50, June 22, 1820. In fine condition, with a small cancellation hole and cuts. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
