ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, Department of State letterhead, March 26, 1868. Letter to Miss Frances Beardsly. In part: “Your father my old friend informs me that you are to be married to my young friend Mr. Burr and that then you and he are to proceed on a long excursion to Europe…Mr. Burr and yourself will be at liberty to shew this note to any…representatives or to any other friend of mine you may meet…as it is a cheerful testimonial that the bearers of it are certainly respectable and highly esteemed.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
