Description

The grunge rock king signs the day after Nirvana recorded 1993’s MTV Unplugged

Details magazine cover from November of 1993, showing Nirvana’s drummer and bassist, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, posing beside a quizzical Kurt Cobain, 8.25 x 10.75, signed above Cobain’s head in blue felt tip, “Kurt.” In fine condition. Following the breakthrough success of their second full-length album Nevermind, Nirvana released the highly anticipated In Utero in late September of 1993; the record quickly made its way to the top of the Billboard charts and has since sold 15 million albums worldwide. Cobain signed this magazine on November 19, 2003, the day after the trio famously recorded their MTV Unplugged album, opting to play a host of covers and band favorites as opposed to their more recognizable hits. Cobain’s autograph was obtained at JFK Airport, as the band headed back to Seattle, interestingly the rest of the band was present but refused to sign. Enhanced by the vibrancy of the magazine layout, this is a rare and highly desirable keepsake from grunge rock’s most identifiable artist. Originally obtained by in-person specialist Mike Wehrmann and accompanied by a letter of provenance by him. Pre-certified REAL.
