Cutts in the amount of $8.75, May 15, 1835, signed at the conclusion by the former president, “James Madison”; and a clipped franking signature by the first lady, “Free, D. P. Madison.” Both are affixed to a letter by Dolley’s nephew and biographer James Madison Cutts, November 29, 1888.
