George Pullman

American inventor and industrialist (1831–1897) best known for developing the first successful railroad sleeping car. Partly-printed DS, signed twice, “Geo. M. Pullman,” one page, 16 x 10.5, July 10, 1876. Mortgage bond certificate for the Pullman Southern Car Company in the amount of $500. Signed at the conclusion by Pullman as the company’s president and countersigned by a secretary, and signed again by both on the reverse. In fine condition, with expected cancellation holes affecting a few letters in the signatures. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
