Two war-dated signatures: an ink signature, “C. W. Nimitz, Admiral USN,” on an off-white 4 x 1.75 card affixed to the lower right corner of a transmittal letter from a US Naval secretary, dated March 14, 1944; and a fountain pen signature, “Douglas MacArthur,” in the lower left corner of an 8.25 x 11 autograph request letter, dated April 19, 1944. Both letters are individually affixed to slightly larger scrapbook pages. Reverse of the Nimitz scrapbook page bears a letter signed by United States Secretary of the Treasury Carter Glass, and the reverse of the MacArthur scrapbook page bears a letter signed by Maine Governor Sumner Sewall.
