Written from Cambridge, a letter to “Fraulein,” in part: “You see how impossible it is for you to escape a visit from any American passing through Heidelberg; and you will perceive how anxious I am not to be forgotten by you, in my presenting another friend Mr. Welch of Boston…You will find Mr. W. a very agreeable and gentlemanly person and with your English and his German (or your German and his English) you will fully understand and appreciate each other.” In fine condition, with a partial separation to adjoining fold.
