Description

Felix von Luckner

German naval officer (1881–1966) who earned the nickname ‘Sea Devil’ for his legendary maritime exploits during World War I. Four items: a hardcover copy of Seeteufel erobert Amerika [Monkfish Conquered America], signed and inscribed in German on the first free end page in black ink, “Felix Graf Luckner,” dated September 9, 1952; a semi-glossy 5.75 x 8.25 photo of von Luckner smoking a pipe, signed and inscribed in German within the margins in ink, “Felix Graf Luckner,” dated September 25, 1956; and a pair of ALSs in German, signed “Felix Luckner” and “Graf Luckner,” on 3.5 x 5.5 and 5.5 x 3.5 postcards, one depicting the cruiser Seeadler, and the other showing the sailing ship Vaterland, postmarked June 30, 1958, and June 29, 1962. In very good to fine condition, with a vertical crease to photo and an ownership stamp to the signed page of the book. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
