Desirable issue of L’Art Vivant magazine from Ensor’s personal collection, August 15, 1929, 38 pages, 9.5 x 12.5, signed in the upper margin of the front cover in fountain pen, “James Ensor.” In fine condition, with light creases and wear. Accompanied by a letter of provenance on personal letterhead of Paul Van Der Perre of the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, in part (translated): “The issue #112 of ‘L’Art Vivant’ magazine...comes from the studio of the master. It contains on pages 643 and 644 Florent Fels article on the James Ensor Exhibition in Paris at the Gallery Pierre. Bought by Paul Van Der Perre in early 1950 from the heiress of the painter, his niece, Madam Alex Daveluy.” Also accompanied by two additional unsigned magazines from Ensor’s collection, including a 1928 issue of Cahiers de Belgique and a 1923 issue of La Patrie Belge, which also has a letter of provenance from Van Der Perre.
