Incredibly scarce glossy 8 x 10 publicity photo of Joplin seated on a stool, signed and inscribed in blue felt tip, “To Manny’s Musik, Love, Janis Joplin,” adding a small heart. Areas of surface loss, thin paper, and toning to lower portion of photo, dings and chips to edges, and slight scattered creases (one passing through her face, visible at an angle), otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Manny’s Music in Times Square was a popular shopping destination for huge touring acts like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix, the latter granted private access to shop the store after closing hours. Unfortunately, the majority of sold photos from Manny’s bear significant water damage from the two occasions in which the store’s sprinklers were set off. Signed Joplin photos of this size are very seldom encountered, with this example further enhanced by its close association with the famed New York music landmark. Pre-certified REAL.
