Description

Booker T. Washington

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute letterhead, September 9, 1899. Letter to G. L. Chaney, in part: “For sometime I have been rather anxious to get a meeting of the trustees that would bring a larger number of our Northern Trustees to the institution. Our new Trades Building is now practically complete, and instead of having a large crowd of people present at the dedication I had thought of having only our trustees together with the Hampton Trustees, Dr. Curry and Dr. Frissell of the Hampton Institute. Many of the Hampton trustees have been anxious to come here for sometime.” In fine condition, with slight toning to intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature) and a couple tiny blots of ink. Accompanied by an unsigned photo of Washington. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
