Two items: a glossy 7.25 x 8.75 head-and-shoulders of Doolittle in uniform, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Col. Bill Westlake, In appreciation of his kindness and cooperation, J. H. Doolittle”; and a TLS signed “J.,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, July 17, 1958, in part: “Your note of the 10th advising that a group of Air Force officers are tendering Bill Westlake a farewell supper…Would like very much to be in attendance, but am obliged to be in Northern Canada…at the mouth of the Mackenzie River on the Arctic Ocean. (We are doing a little exploration for oil in that area).” Photo is matted to an overall size of 12 x 14. Light scattered creases to the photo, and tape remnants and staining to the letter (lightly affecting the signature area), otherwise overall fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
