Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

ALS signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” one page, 4.5 x 7, December 2, 1874. Letter of thanks to an unidentified gentleman, in full: “I have just received your letter and msg. and will hand them to Mr. Howells without delay.” A vertical fold through two letters of the signature, toning to edges and bottom portion of page, and mounting remnants to reverse of second integral page, otherwise fine condition. William Dean Howells was best known as the editor of the influential periodical Atlantic Monthly from 1871 to 1881, and as the author of the novel The Rise of Silas Lapham and the short story Editha. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
