Description

William T. Sherman

ALS signed “W. T. Sherman,” one lightly-lined page both sides, 5 x 8, Headquarters Army of the United States letterhead, December 6, 1880. Letter to Thomas J. Brady, in part: “I take great pleasure in presenting to your most favorable notice…Adolphe S. Barry—son of my particular friend…Dr. Barry of New York. I know that…Dr. Barry is the owner of a beautiful orange plantation near…Florida when I visited him a couple of winters ago—and that he owns a steamboat on which I made the trip up and down the St. John River. I believe Mr. Adolphe S. Barry wants to see you about some Mail Contract.” In fine condition, with trivial show-through from writing to opposing sides.
