Description

Loie Fuller

Pair of TLSs sent to artist Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. The first, two pages, lightly-lined, 5.75 x 9.5, Hotel Marlborough letterhead, March 16, 1896, in part: “You must come here to the Hotel to see me, although I am in my dressing room every night at half past nine. Won’t you come there one night. Via: the stage door in 35th. Street. In that way, you will not fail to reach me. I am going to fix a day next week to have a little reception at the Hotel and will tell you about it when I see you.” The second, one page, 8 x 10.5, no date, in part: “Come to see me at the hotel any time during the day or at the theatre about nine in the evening. You must write to your cousin Irene that I will be in Chicago for one night and that she must come to see me. My arms have given me so much trouble lately that I am obliged to use a secretary for all my correspondence.” Fuller adds a handwritten correction and postscript to the dated letter. Intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through two letters of one signature), small tears and dings to edges, slight creasing and mirroring to ink, and some light dampstaining to expected mailing folds, otherwise overall fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
