The father of the atomic bomb

Brilliant American physicist (1904–1967) who directed the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and who spearheaded the Manhattan Project. FDC with a cachet honoring the 100th anniversary of the Smithsonian Institute, signed in black ink, “J. R. Oppenheimer.” In fine condition. A particularly appropriate choice of cover, canceled on August 10, 1946—almost exactly the one-year anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki—and associated with the historical progress of science as preserved by the Smithsonian. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
