Scarce vintage glossy 9.5 x 7.25 photo of Hendrix performing in his Hussars military jacket, signed and inscribed in bold red felt tip, “Love always, Jimi Hendrix, to Rosetta,” who also adds two hearts. Reverse bears a Sven Oredson photographer’s stamp. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance, and full letters of authenticity from PSA/DNA and Tracks. After five tiring months spent recording Are You Experienced at London’s De Lane Lea and Olympic Studios, the Jimi Hendrix Experience set off on a legendary tour of Europe to promote their debut album. Two weeks after its release, the band made their first stop in Stockholm, Sweden, performing at the Grona Lund Amusement Park on May 24, 1967, the concert at which this photo was taken. Hendrix and company returned to the amusement park months later on September 4, which is when a park employee, Rosita, was able to obtain this autograph. The consignor notes that Hendrix’s notation of “Rosetta,” was a playful attempt to anglify her name. Poised on the brink of legendary status, Hendrix’s soulful essence is vividly captured in this photo, with its large and bold signature adding to the item’s already immense appeal. Pre-certified REAL.
