Description

Grover Cleveland

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, March 13, 1903. Letter to H. P. Main, in part: “Some little time ago I received a letter...that it was the intention of the friends of Fannie Crosby in Brooklyn to take some notice, by way of celebration, of her eighty-third birth-day, on the 24th of March. He or she referred to the fact that Miss Crosby had often spoken with interest and pleasure of our association in the New York Institute for the Blind many years ago, and asked me if I would write a few words for the occasion which would ‘cheer the heart of the aged lady.’ My pleasant memories of Miss Crosby were such and her usefulness and worth were so well known to me that I acceded to this request and sent a few words which I thought might be some comfort and satisfaction to her.” He also adds a handwritten initialed postscript, in part, “Since writing the above I have received two letters which I enclose for such action as you may see fit to take. G.C.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, two faint pencil notations, and trivial soiling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
