Description

Irving Berlin

ALS, one page, 7.25 x 11, personal letterhead, July 25, 1942. Letter to Decca Records founder Jack Kapp, in part: “I just played the records in the album of ‘Holiday Inn’ and this note is to tell you how thrilled I am about the magnificent job you did. This is one of the best collections of recordings I have ever heard and I have great hopes for them. When I see you, I will tell you in detail which ones particularly impressed me, but I thought you would like to know how delighted I am with the job.” In fine condition. Written by Berlin and performed by Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby, the soundtrack to the 1942 musical Holiday Inn earned Berlin his first and only Academy Award for the album’s biggest hit, the now-classic ‘White Christmas.’ Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
