Description

Giacomo Meyerbeer

German-born composer (1791–1864) best known for such operas as Les Hugenots and Robert le diable. ALS in German, signed “G. Meyerbeer,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, no date. Letter to his “revered teacher,” in part (translated): "I am back to Paris for a few days…It will make me happy if you give me the honor of accepting my invitation for dinner.” In very good condition, with heavy intersecting folds, partial separations tape-repaired on the reverse, and overall foxing and soiling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
